TASTING XMAS BERRIES

Recently I had this Xmas themed layout published in
AUSTRALIAN SCRAPBOOK IDEAS - Issue 17
on sale now .

'TASTE'

My approach to this layout
I adore this pic of my Grand daughter eating strawberries on Xmas day a few years ago.
I wanted to give a Christmas feel to the page without typical Christmas colors .
Pink and black are my choice, and the white ink brushed around the edges of the black card and the fine fibres of muslin suggests soft snow to me.
The circles are a graphic interpretation of the berries and the handmade flowers to me represent our table setting where I always have beautiful flowers as a centre piece .
I definitely prefer non-traditional colors at  Christmas time.

hope you buy this mag it is full of inspiration .

Here is another of 3 projects I created for the magazine - ISSUE 17

hope I have inspired you in some way

OPEN GARDEN DELIGHT

CASE FILE #47 IS READY TO SOLVE

'OPEN GARDEN DELIGHT '
OUR beautiful friends Ros and Tony Hurren open their historic garden every year to raise money for charity
Their home and garden is nested in the heart of Crafers a small town  in the Adelaide Hills South Australia.

EVIDENCE
Flourishes, Stripes, Frames
TESTIMONY
The garden is pure delight. I love to stand still and hear the music as soft breezes rustle through the leaves and contented birds sing in the treetops. Wonderful for my soul.
The structure in the pic is at the top of a sunken bowling green. Yes a bowling green !!!!
Our beautiful friends Ros and Tony Hurren own a magnificent property nestled in the heart of Crafers.
which features an historic garden named 'NARRINYERI' .
SUMMER brings with it in 'ABUNDANCE' in the garden. Subtle shadows and leaf size shadows cast a spell over me as I wander through this natural tapestry of dreams and garden treasures.
In times gone by I can only imagine the wonder of delicious afternoon teas with scones, jam and cream ..
and friendly competitive games of bowls ...

Some of these words I journaled on the back of my layout .

The garden is open this weekend 24th and 25th November .

these pics above are taken by Ros Hurren
Just to give you some more snippetts of the stunning garden .

hope you have a play at solving this case

MEG'S GARDEN BLOG HOP - STAYED TUNED

Mark your calendars for the
Meg’s Garden Design Team Blog Hop!

one of the longest Blog Hops ever done – around the World.

From Wikipedia:  ‘Phileas Fogg is the main fictional character in the 1873 Jules Verne novel
‘Around the World in Eighty Days’.

Fogg attempts to circumnavigate the late Victorian world in eighty days, or less, for a wager of £20,000 with members of London’s Reform Club.  He takes the wager and leaves with Passepartout, vowing to return by 8:45 pm on Saturday 21 December 1872. Under suspicion of robbing the Bank of England,  he is followed by a detective named Fix. Fogg has no idea about Fix's true intentions and Fix (wanting to get Fogg back to England so that he can arrest him) works with Fogg in the last half of the book.
While in India he saves a widowed princess, named Aouda from  Suttee during her husband's funeral. Passepartout rescues her and she accompanies Fogg for the rest of his journey. She and Fogg eventually fall in love and marry at the end of the book. Fix, who is really supposed to arrest Fogg, attempts to sabotage him by putting him in prison near the end of the book but he is quickly released. Fogg, who has been careful to keep track of every day in his diary, believes that he arrives home on Sunday and that he has lost his bet. However, he discovers, almost too late, that he has forgotten to adjust his timekeeping for having crossed the International Date Line and he wins his bet after all.’

Phileas Fogg had 80 days to circle the globe - we are allowing 4 days only but we have an advantage over his modes of travel – he had to catch trains, ride an elephant, an air balloon & more....

Make sure you complete the list – become a follower, like us on FB & leave a comment – at each blog.

Starts 30, November 2012 for 3 days at 5:00 p.m.
Eye Candy at each blog & a prize at the end !!

LOTS OF FUN

EXPRESSION of COLOUR

Today is my turn over at

'ART'
I built this layout around one of my fave stamps

'As long as we have memories,
YESTERDAY remains.
As long as we have hope,
TOMORROW  awaits,
As long as we have ART,
TODAY is wonderful'

I 'D LIKE  TO EXPLAIN A LITTLE BIT ABOUT  THE MEANING BEHIND THIS PAGE
As I am becoming older I feel more comfortable with who I am .
When I looked at my completed page I noticed the connecting thread of the colors ,
art brings all parts of me together, the healer, my inner child, the warrior, my professional self,
my nurturing side, and my passionate self.
Art to me is an expression  of color and design reflecting my inner self, my mind body and soul .
Each color has its own meaning and energy
Green/ balance
 yellow / communication
Pink/ compassion
 white /actualising
Black / strength.
I have journaled these words on the back of my layout for future reading and reflection.

Pink Roses, pink rose buds, white flower sprays,
deep pink and pink cherry blossoms mixed with green leaves .

Pink and green are such beautiful complimentary colors
and these blooms showcase them perfectly

EMBELLISHED WITH METAL ELEMENTS

My turn over at
Today I am Showcasing an Embellished Banner
combining Megs Garden papers with Tim Holtz metal elements.

' LOVE YOU '

Wow I just adore these papers from the Christmas collection.
Such rich, velvety colors and PERFECT for showcasing Banners . I was so excited as this banner came together .. I decided to create 2 layers and hang some Tim Holtz metal elements to create extra interest and texture .
These colors and designs mix and match perfectly and as you can see I have created my banner by using small sections from almost every piece of the collection.  What a great way to use your scraps ..

Handy tip
Looking closely you may notice I have slightly distressed the papers on the banner
( this is achieved by sanding lightly with a emery board )

CELEBRATION AND A TREASURE BOX

Hello everyone my turn today to showcase Imaginarium designs chippies.
I created a layout using one of my fave color combos
RED /BLACK/WHITE  .
I find these colors  so beautiful to work with for some reason.
This pic was taken on our daughter’s birthday last year while we were out celebrating .

'YOU AND ME'

I inked the title in Versa color ink ( Red Cardinal ) and stitched it in place with the sewing machine .
The word love is inked  in Black versa color ink
and the letter O is replaced with a small heart inked in Red Cardinal.
I  stitched the heart with white crochet cotton and  repeated this process with the small button.

My handy tip .
Lots of random stamping reduced  the starkness  from the white cardstock and I  layered the page with black and red card to continue the flow of the three colors .
